The iphone 4S has been selling in the millions. But, that doesn’t mean that there aren’t millions of people who are actually quite disappointed or even irked at what the iPhone 4S has to offer. Actually, it was exactly the same as the iPhone 4 in design and physical appearance. Though the iPhone 4S had a faster processor, IOS5 and a pretty cool virtual assistant in Siri, there were many who were still not satisfied with what the iPhone 4S had to offer. Some even joked around that Apple had simply stuck a “S” sticker on the iPhone 4. Though the iPhone 4S has been selling like hot cakes, there are millions of Apple iPhone lovers who are waiting on the iPhone 5, that should hopefully come out in June or October of 2012. In the sections below, we will go over the most important new features that are expected in the iPhone 5.
iPhone 5 specifications (Expected)
iPhone 5 4G LTE
It is now the 4G generation. 4G LTE speeds can result in insane download speeds of up to 30Mbps which makes 3G look like a snail crossing the road. So, it is only obvious that Apple will or should include 4G LTE support in the iPhone 5. Several rumors actually suggested that Apple desperately tried to include 4G LTE support in the iPhone’s existing 3.5 frame although they just couldn’t do so because the phone was just too small for the rather large 4G LTE chips. So, this could essentially mean that the iPhone 5 will get a larger screen. We have gone over the details on the iPhone 5 screen size in the section below.
iPhone 5 Screen – Will it be bigger than 3.5 inches?
This is a pretty tricky question, for several reasons. For beginners, it is public knowledge that Steve Jobs, the inventory of the iPhone was a ardent fan of the 3.5 inch screen size.Steve Jobs was a firm believer that anything more than a 3.5 inch screen for a phone was oversized, ugly and uncalled for. Steve Jobs has publicly made statements to the press that he is concerned about the use of large screens on Apple devices as they will result in a compromise on battery life. According to him, the only solution would be to increase the size of the battery although that will call for design modifications that are just not feasible, considering that Apple makes some of the most stylish products that are available in the market today.
Another problem with a larger screen on the iPhone 5 is that a larger screen will make it very difficult for Apple to retain the retina display resolution that the iPhone 4 and the iPhone 4S currently boast of. Since retina display is almost impossible on a 4 inch screen on a 4.5 inch screen, Apple might be forced to keep the iPhone 5 screen size at the same 3.5 inches that have been featured in all the previous 5 generation of iPhone’s.
What will be the release date of the iPhone 5?
This is another tricky question to be answered as Apple usually never hints at release dates of its products. As a result, we can only guess the possible release date for the next generation iPhone, the iPhone 5. There are thousands of people who are expecting to buy the iPhone 5 in just 6 months time, sometime in June or July of 2012. But, what people fail to understand is that the summer release dates at Apple have traditionally been reserved for the iPad models. With several rumors suggesting that the iPad 3 has entered production stage, it is very likely that the iPhone 5 will not be released in June or July of 2012, along with the release of the iPad 3.
There are even some very interesting rumors that suggest that the iPhone 5 will be released on October 5, 2012, the first death anniversary of Steve Job’s death, as a way to commemorate the death of the famous icon in the world. We definitely think that October 5, 2012 is a real possibility as Apple usually reserves the big product launch for the October month, just in time to allow for enough festive mood shopping.
What else can you expect to see in the iPhone 5?
While most people are only interested in whether or not the iPhone 5 will have a larger screen and also come with LTE support, there are others who are interested in the processor speed and operating system upgrade as well. There have been a few rumors that have seemed to suggest that the iPhone 5 is going to get a super fast quad core processor, along with a much more sophisticated and easy to use IOS6 But, there are also some who believe that the iPhone 5 will retain the same dual core, A5 processor that has been featured in the iPhone 4S.
If you asked us, we would say that a quad core processor would be quite superfluous for a cell phone like the iPhone 5. No cell phone really needs the power of a quad core processor, at least for the average user. So, in all likelihood, the iPhone 5 will get the same A5 processor that has been used in the iPhone 4S. However, we do think that the iPhone 5 will run on IOS6 that may possibly include some exciting features such as NFC support, 3D camera support, facial recognition and a few other exciting features.
